50 years yo.

in the midst of fixing our flag on cars and waxing lyrical on our fabulous mamak culture, fabulous food, fabulous night life, fabulous hospitality, fabulous skyscrapers, fabulous cars (oh HAHA), fabulous rojak language, fabulous mix of races getting along fabulously, whatever fabulous idiosyncrasies that are only unique to us malaysians...

don't forget how we came to this day. and in the process, things that were achieved; things that we're still trying to achieve; things that were, and still are, swept under the carpet.

i know many of us are indignant (well, to put it subtly) about many issues in this country. but i'd say what we've achieved so far is worthy of being proud of.

i have been largely apathetic towards Malaysia. not that i hated Malaysia, no. i just didn't feel anything towards her.

if you say you love Malaysia, i hope your love runs a bit deeper than just your love of hanging out at mamak stalls.

and now, am off to read the 1957 straits times newspaper woot! damn cute la the ads! XD

happy birthday Malaysia~

am listening to MAMULA MOON, the very original version of Negaraku. lovely romantic oldie.

how this song, and later terang bulan, became our national anthem... go google or wiki it la. it's a lightly amusing read, really. =)

disclaimer: listening to mamula moon does not mean i respect our national anthem any less. you know, i'm just saying, since certain authorities have been verrryyyy jumpy over blogs and bloggers and all things blog-ey.
